Life Skills is a full-time 5 days a week educational day program for developmentally disabled adults.  It is designed to provide training in independent living skills, job readiness skills, and social interaction skills. The classes have a student achievement expectation of increased independent functioning and job readiness. This expectation of student progress requires certain eligibility criteria, which all potential students must meet.

These criteria are: Students must be at least 22 years of age. Students must be able to function semi-independently in individual and small group activities. Students must be capable of attending to all basic self-care skills including feeding and toileting (self-medicating, if necessary,)

These criteria help to ensure that the students are functioning at an appropriate level to benefit from the life skills training and that the safety of each student can be maintained.

Current written documentation of disability and functioning level must be submitted to the Life Skills intake office. Acceptable forms of documentation include APD support plan, medical records, and school records. If, after a review of the record, it is determined that the individual is eligible for the Life Skills Program, an interview will be scheduled for the student and parent/guardian at the class site to enable them to observe the class and meet the teacher. Enrollment will be completed after this visitation. There is no tuition cost for attending these programs. Transportation to and from the program is the responsibility of the parent and/or guardian.
